BMW X4 (generation F26), produced between 2014 and 2018, is the first generation of the sportier, "coupe" alternative to the X3 (F25). The model is entirely based on the same platform but features a lowered and sloped silhouette at the rear, a lower seating position, and a more sport-tuned suspension and steering as standard.
Main modifications and engines
Since the F26 hit the market in 2014 (the year of the X3 facelift), it directly received the more modern and defect-free engines. All versions in Europe come standard with the intelligent xDrive system and the 8-speed automatic transmission from ZF (except for the base diesel, which is rarely found with a manual gearbox).
• Design and presence: The X4 looks significantly more aggressive, modern, and individual on the road compared to the standard X3.
• Sportier behavior: The suspension is tighter, the rear track is wider, and the steering rack has a variable sport ratio (Variable Sport Steering) as standard. The car enters corners even more stably.
• Equipment: Since it was positioned higher in terms of price, the mass-market used examples have a much higher level of extras (M sport package, large navigation systems, leather interior).
