The Audi A6 (generation C8 / 4K), introduced in 2018 and undergoing a subtle facelift in 2023, is still in production today (with conventional models transitioning to the name A6/A7 from 2024–2025, depending on the brand's new nomenclature for ICE and electric vehicles). Built on the aluminum-steel MLB Evo platform, this generation represents a true technological leap, bringing the luxury and digitalization from the flagship A8 into the business class.
The Audi A6 C8 4K is offered with 4 different types of suspension from the factory, including pneumatic:
1. Standard spring suspension: Classic, reliable, but a bit firm for a limousine of this class.
2. Sport suspension (S-line): Lowered by 20 mm, quite tight, and aimed at dynamic driving.
3. Suspension with adjustable dampers (Damper Control): A compromise option – standard springs but with electronic control of damper stiffness.
4. Adaptive air suspension: The top option. The system uses air springs on all four wheels. It constantly adjusts the car's height depending on speed (automatically lowers on the highway for better aerodynamics) and smooths out road irregularities in a phenomenal way.
• Area of attention for used cars: The system in the C8 is more modern and sealed (with pressurized nitrogen), reducing the risk of moisture and compressor freezing in winter. However, after 150,000–200,000 km, the air springs age and crack. Since the electronics are extremely complex, maintenance and preventive care are extremely important.
